Show 1018 the Greenriver bridge, very small channel on the east side; there is an island there; it is an island in low water, and not very much of a stream on the right bank in high water now, because that old channel has filled up and grown full of cottonwoods and things, but in 1907 the main channel came on the right- hand bank, or the west side of the river; but today all the river comes on the east side. " That is about the only difference in the conditions that I recall." R. 2408. Complainant's Exhibit No. 405 is identified by the witness, [ Vol. 13, pp. 2408- 2409] which " is where the Mormons who crossed the river at the Hole- in- the- Rock in 1879 and 1890 left the river; that is not the Hole- in- the- Rock, but opposite, across the river from the Hole- in- the- Rock." " Q Is it on the right or left bank of the river? " A That is on the left bank; that is the old dug way; the sand and stuff they had in there is washed away; but at the time of their crossing they had that smoothed over to a certain extent, and took their wagons right up there, and made their road as they went through the country. " Q Where did the road go with reference to the big rock with the small rock on top of it on the right- hand side? " A I think it turns to the left and goes up that way ( indicating). R. 2409. Complainant's Exhibits No. 406 and 407 are identified by him as photographs of the Hole- in- the- Rock on the right hand side of the river. " This little chasm right through here is the Hole- in- the- Rock, ( indicating)" on Complainant's Exhibit No. 406. " The wagons and everything was brought down through that little, narrow chasm; they had a windlass up there at that time |
