Show 1017 There has been very little washing away of his ranch in Red Canyon and the land around Hite, Utah, is about the same. " BY MR. BLACKMAR:" " Q Mr. Loper, between the years 1908 and 1914, while you were there in Glen canyon, I wish you would tell me the extent of the travel over any of the river that you saw while you were in there?" " A All the traffic that was done on the river that I remember of was just sixteen or eighteen foot row boats, and of course they would row where they could, and they would rope where they had to, that is, coming up the river. These boats were used by those persons for themselves and were not used for carrying supplies up and down the river for other people. He also met Julius Stone and party while witness was roping a boat in Cataract Canyon, but he saw no other parties. R. 2407. He has lived at Greenriver, Utah, and has made it his headquarters, off and on, for a number of years. He became familiar with the Green River first in 1907.
