R. 2324. He was present at the time Mr. Trimble made this estimate and observed the water but did not take any measurements himself. His only way of estimating the depth at that time was " the banks along each side, and the water marks." His judgment about the depth of the water coincides with Mr. Trimble, " because after the water want down it left a mark where it had been". R. 2324- 2325. The depth of the water might not have been six feet but it was a raging torrent. R. 2325. At that time the party was camped at the bend below Indian Farms and they very nearly lost a boat. When the party went through Indian Farms there was hardly any water in the river, but they were camped there quite a while to allow Mr. Trimble to do his survey work, " And while we was there this big flood came down; we had been having floods all the way down through there." They had floods from the very start; the first day in the canyon they had a flood. It was the time of |
