Show THE UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA VANCOUVER, CANADA OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT January 10, 1951 Professor A. ^. Atiya, c/o Library of Congress, Washington 25, D.u# Dear Professor Atiya, Professor A. F. Stevenson wrote to ^r. Mac- Kenzie, President of the diversity of British Columbia, regarding your visit to the united States, and your possible visit to some Canadian niversities during your stay on this continent. ^r. Mackenzie turned your letter over to me on behalf of the University Lectures Committee, and asked me if I would inquire from the interested people regarding the possibility of your visiting this diversity. I find that there is great interest in a possible visit from you, but funds for special lectures this year had been pretty well allocated by the time we received Professor Stevensonfs letter. I am therefore writing to find out what your present plans are; how near Vancouver you are likely to be; and at what time, in order to pursue my inquiries still further and in order to find out whether it would be possible to contribute to your expenses in making a trip to the University of British Columbia. Could you let me know at your convenience when, if at all, you are likely to be on the Pacific Coast or in the Pacific Northwest, whether you would be interested in visiting U.B.C., and if so, approximately what your expenses would be in this connection? I would also appreciate knowing what subject or subjects you would be willing to lecture on during your stay here, if that could be arranged. I should only like to add on behalf of the university Lectures Committee that I am hopeful that it can be provided for. Your>^ sincerely .^ , University Lectures Committee |
