Show & a H u SYDNEY CLARK SAGAMORE BEACH MASSACHUSETTS February 2, 1951 Dr. Aziz S. Atiya The Library of Congress Washington, D.C. Dear Dr. Atiya: This is a sort of postscript, or amendment, to the letter I wrote to you yesterday. I will send this by air mail and very likely it will arrive at the same time, or even sooner. It now seems clear that the National Geographicfs editors feel that the simplest way of pursuing the matter of the story on the manuscripts of Mount Sinai is for one of their staff men to carry on conversations with you about it and handle the matter within their own organization, since they are right on the spot and can get in touch with you anyte time. My own relations with the magazine are always so cordial that I would not wish, in any way, to contest their decisions, so I have written to them that it is quite all right with me to have them handle it in any way they deem best. I have no doubt that a staff man from the magazine will be in further touch with you; and this letter may be considered by you as releasing you from any moral obligation you may have felt to carry on with me. Whatever develops about this article I do certainly hope for the pleasure of meeting you before you return to Egypt. If I do not come to Washington in the near future, and I now have no plan to do so, I shall probably be there late in March, in connection with a passport matter. I wish you all success in all you do, and I think of it as a real privilege to know you. Cordially yours, |
