Show SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION FREER GALLERY OF ART WASHINGTON 25, D. C. April 26^ 1951 Dr. Aziz S. Atiya Library of Congress Washington 25, D. C. Dear Dr. Atiya: Thank you very much for your kind letter of April 23d. It is indeed generous of you to offer to work on the Near East Bibliography in view of your extremely busy schedule and travels. In view of this, I can only apologize for the copy being so heavy and cumbersome. Perhaps you can take along only certain sections at a time, together with the Table of Contents and Introduction (so that you can always have them for reference as to the nature of the whole;, and that way lighten your physical load somewhat. As to the time element, there is no real hurry. I think if we have your suggestions and notations by next fall it will be all right. I doubt that the work will be published before the end of the year, but there will be considerable work to do on it after all the comments from critics are in. I would, like to re-iterate that Miss Dorothy Stehle is Editor pro tern and she would be very happy to have your comments and ideas on the Bibliography. I suggest this because she is in the Annex and will have to approve all the changes and additions made anyway, so it 'Tu+y womid be convenient to both of you to have it done this way, it would seem to me. This is not to say that I would not be happy to have you call on me here at the Gallery, for I should be glad to meet you and would love to discuss the Bibliography (as well as EgyptologyI) with you, Indeed. It might save you time if you call before coming, as I may be out. (I shall be away the entire week next week.) The Code number, if you call from the Library, is 1212, and the extension is No. 251. If you call from outside, the number is Na. 1810, Ext. 251. Thank you again for your interest and attention. Sincerely yours, (Mrs.) M. Dovener ^^h^u^M^ |
