People's Theater This season, for the twelfth consecutive year, the University has presented plays written especially for children under the general direction of Albert O. Mitchell. These plays are given for children in the Salt Lake area, Ogden, and Provo. "The Ghost of Mr. Penny" by Rosemary Gabbert Musil and directed by Vern Adix opened the season. This play tells the exciting story of some highly imaginative children who visit a haunted house and find a real ghost. "No Strings On Me" by Jack Hochhauser, directed by Wanda Clayton Thomas, concerns a boy who is turned into a puppet as a reverse of the Pinocchio story. "The Princess and the Swineherd," directed by C. Lowell Lees, is based on the story by Hans Christian Andersen. In the play a lovely princess, who cannot fall in love wtih any of the eligible but spoiled princes of the land, is forced to marry a tender of swine with a surprise outcome. "Young Hickory" by Helen McKenna, directed by Albert O. Mitchell, describes the boyhood of Andrew Jackson, when at the age of 12, he and his brother Robert, 14, met adventure with the British during the Revolutionary War.
