Show EVENTS Frosh Week Freshman Week with a barrage of green beanies transformed the University campus into a vivid pulse of activity. Planned by Craig Hansen and committee, AWS and AMS combined forces in a sponsor program, giving each freshman an upper classman to introduce him to "U" traditions. The Mortar Board Fashion Show paraded college fashions before frosh women, and AMS presented a "smokeless smoker" and a rousing sports contest for the frosh men. Beauty of the week came with the presentation of lovely frosh queen, Janet Margetts, and her attendants Kathleen Pinnock and Carol facobsen. The first school spirit surged through the new arrivals at the downtown pep rally and first football game Saturday, and Frosh poked into campus buildings from the library to the Sigma Chi Melon Mess Wednesday night. Energetic Frosh Week Committee seated, from left, Sherilyn Cox, Ronald Bouk, Chairman Craig Hansen, Janice Beesley, Ruth Amott; standing, Joan Roberts, Lynn Hogan, Larry Couch, Carole Evans, Luceen Howard, Dale Latimer, Pat Wilson, Allan Lipman, Reid Simmons, Nancy Valentine, Chick Stratford, Jane Foley, Jerry Anderson. Whitewashing day brought crowds of freshmen circling the "U" in a bucket brigade. IK's stirred lime and water into wash that dowsed frosh as well as the traditional landmark. Food attracted frosh to Hello Walk lawn after Wednesday's assemblies. Committee members and Spurs poured lemonade, then guided frosh on campus tours and in athletic games. |
