A I don't recall; we called him Klondike; that is what he went by, as a nick- name; his real name I don't know; he wasn't in there so very long; he had heard of a bar down below the San Juan river, and wanted to go down , came in to Cass's and wanted to go down and see about it. I want down with him; he was an expert poler from Klondike, spent a good deal of time in the Klondike country. Q Sis you get to the bar that you started for? A Yes sir. Q Did it have any name? A No, I don't know as it did. Q About how far below the mouth of San Juan was it? A oh, perhaps half a mile or a mile. Q How long did you stay down there? A We stayed at the bar over night, and part of the next day. Q Then where did you go? A We came back up the river to Cass Hite's Q By what method did you come up stream? A We poled practically all the way up the river; done |
