Show 6958 Chaffin- D 4946 kind of power boats he was referring to; therefore it is much better for me and for you and for everybody in the case to have the question so limited as to really give me some assistance. MR. FARNSWORTH: I wouldn't expect to elicit it all with one question. I would expect to follow this up. Suppose I started out, following the suggestion, I say a four- horse power boat, a four- horsepower engine on a fifteen-foot boat with such and such a draft, and he says yes. Then I could put another horsepower, a little bit further up. It would take time -- THE SPECIAL MASTER: I think if you start with your highest limit you think a boat could go -- MR. FARNSWORTH: He might say no to this ques-tion, that would end it. I think if it had put it in the other way, I think the court would properly say, find out whether a power boat would go up at all, don't take up the time of the court with all these specifications until the witness has said he thinks it could. THE SPECIAL MASTER: If I were on the witness stand, my first question would be to ask you what kind of power boat. |
