Show 6912 Chaffin- D 4900 witness in this case? A Yes, sir. Q How old are you, Mr. Chaffin? A I am Forty- four. Q Have you been on the Colorado river? A Yes sir. Q What date, as near as you can give us, was it that you first went to the Colorado river? A As near as I remember, it was in 1898 or 1899. Q From what point did you get there? A We were living at Teasdale at the time; we went to the mouth of Hanson creek and crossed the river, went down the river about a mile to the Moquie bar. Q Who was working the Mosquie bar at that time? A My brother, Lou Chaffin, and George Chaffin. Q How long were you there at that time? A I was there about four months. Q Do you remember what time of the year it was that you went in? A We went in in about October or November, and left in the spring. Q In the spring of 1900 or 1899, whichever it was? A 1899 I believe/ is when I left. |
