This folder contains interviews conducted on different occasions by Leslie Kelen and Sandra Fuller. Rose (b. 1911) discusses his family background and childhood in Poland, including anti-Semitic feelings there. He continues his story with the economic situation, Krystalnacht, Jewish ghettos, World War II, his experience in concentration camps (particularly in Auschwitz), living conditions and religious life, liberation by American soldiers, and life in post-war Germany. Other topics covered include traveling to the United States, the Salt Lake Jewish community, orthodox Judaism, and the merger of the Salt Lake congregations. 137 pages. |

And the camp was next to it- Buna. About 10,000 prisoners. Mostly German Jews and Polish Jews. And occasiona~jsome Poles who were not Jews. And we marchedoff to fue factory to work. of') '/ Forthe first few weeks, Twas just working11 L,J jobs as a -- group. Construction, cleaning. Especially;• t.he work was - I don't know- from 7 oclock til about 6 oclock infue evening. WE came home }a~ a bowl of soup. And we had free time for a couple of hours.And we could visit our peopleon the block. And they even provided some entertainment - there were alot of prisoners ~rom Vienna, Jewish people who played violi!U J ~'; .•. "ts: (.-+- w~ And allAinstruments. AHad concerts and some people even had contactwith their farnilybecuase if the prisoner wasJewish and left behind ~~ ~r~~N wife she could write to him, he could write to her.
