Show Binge Drinking (Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey) Binge drinking is defined as the consumption of five or more alcoholic drinks on one or more occasions during the previous month. The U.S. median has gradually declined since 1986. Utah's percentage of those reporting binge drinking is lower than the U.S. median; however, there have been fluctuations but no noticeable decrease in Utah's rate. In Utah and the U.S. the greatest concentration of binge drinkers are men between the ages of 18 and 34 years of age. The percentage of reported binge drinkers in this age group remains more than twice as high as in the total population. Table 76.
