||115 ON ACT TO CREATE THE OFFICE OF A COUNTY TREASURER IN EACH COUNTY OF THE TERRITORY OF UTAH, AND TO DEFINE THE DUTIES THEREOF. Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the Governor and Legislative As-%embly of the Territory of Utah, That there shall be, and hereby is created the office of county Treasurer, in each county of the Territory of Utah. Seo. 2 The Treasurer shall be elected by the qual-Treasurer how ilied electors of their respective counties, at the time ofelect8dl the general election of the Territory; whose term of office shall be four years, and until his successor shall be elected and qualified; and said Treasurer, before entering upon the duties of his office, shall take an oath or affirmation,^11 ^^^ before the Clerk of the county court, to support the Constitution of the United States, and the laws of this Territory; and faithfully discharge the duties of his office, and .shall give bonds to the people of their respective counties: the amount of bonds to be prescribed by the county court, with security, to be approved by said court, for the faithful discharge of the duties of his office, which bonds shall be filed in the office of the Clerk of the county court. Sec. 3. The county Treasurer, shall keep an accuratenuty of tho account of all moneys, or other property received, or dis-Treasurer bursed, and shall pay over all demands, that shall be legally presented, and shall render a true account, with necessary vouchers for the same, semi-annually to the county court, or whenever it shall be called for by said court, and his office shall be kept at the county seat. Sec. 4. The county Courts are hereby authorized toCoiutm _ appoint a county Treasurer in their respective counties,point Treat.. who shall be qualified as provided by this act, to serve until the first general election, and until his successor shall be elected and qualified: said Courts are also hereby authorized to fill any vacancy that may hereafter occur in the office of county Treasurer according to the provisions of this act, whose term of office shall be till the next succeeding general election of the Territory.
