Description THE CROCODILE Cone all ye landsmen and listen to me, for to tell you a tale I'm bound: '.That happened to ne by going to sea, and the wonders there I found. Shipwrecked I once was off Peru, and cast upon the 3hore; So I resolved to take a cruise, this country to explore. * And far I had not scattered out, when close long side the ocean, I saw something move, which I thought at first, was all the earth in notion. But when I cane up close long side, I found it to bo a CR0C0DIL3: And from his mouth to the tip of his tail, he measured five hundred mile! This crocodile, I could plainly see, was rot of a common race; For I had to clinib a jolly high tree, before I could see his face. But when he lifted up his jaw, perhaps you may think itfs a lie, It reached above the clouds four score miles, and his nose nearly touched the sky. Whon up aloft in a tros 30 high, it blew a gale from the south; Aril I lost ay hold and away I flew, BAHG 1HT0 THIS CROCODILE'S MOUTH. He quickly closed his jaws on me, and 'e thought he'd grabbed a victim; I popped down his throat, don't you see, and that wa3 the way I tricked him. I traveled on for a mile or two, till I got into his mow. And, runp eggs I found not a few, and a thousand bullocks in store, Of life I gave up every hope, in grub I was not stinted} And in this crocodile I lived ten years, very contented. * This crocodile, being very old, one day, alas, he died, He was three years in getting cold, he was 30 long and wide; Hia body was some five miles thick, or somewhere thereabouts, -74-
