Show Brigham Young Complex - 42SL737 NHL Status Report: 2016 III. Building, Site, or Historic District Integrity 1. Are there any conditions on the land adjacent to the NHL that might result in serious impairment, diminishment, or destruction of NHL resources, integrity, and/or significance? _yes ~no (explain) The buildings have spiritual significance to many locals and to the owners, conditions adjacent to the complex are unlikely to cause damage due to protection. 2. Has there been an introduction of visual, audible, or atmospheric elements that are out of character with the property and its setting? ~yes _no (explain) The Beehive house is a museum with rooms set up like exhibits. Barriers separate visitors from the exhibits and many of the rooms and hallways are not set up as they were originally. The Lion House is a restaurant with a little shop in the entrance. The rooms are filled with dining tables and chairs and a hallway has cafeteria-style serving area. The exteriors appear to be mostly untouched. 3. Are there any potential threats (i.e., highways, adjacent construction, zoning changes, etc.) likely to occur in the future? ~yes _no Visitors to each building, especially the Lion House, can potentially cause damage. 4. Is there any urgency regarding any of the threats? _yes ~no _N/A Both buildings are constantly monitored, and the buildings' affiliation with a Brigham Young give them spiritual significance to many visitors.
