Show to bring the project into conformance with the Standards can be difficult, expensive or occasionally impossible to make. All aspects of the work must meet the Standards or the entire project will be ineligible for the tax credit. Photographs showing all significant areas of work prior to the beginning of construction are required as part of the application. Before the completed rehabilitation work can be approved (and the tax credit claimed), the state tax credit law requires the owner submit a complete National Register nomination to the State Historic Preservation Office. The property must be formally listed in the National Register within three years of claiming the tax credit. Please be aware that even with an exemplary rehabilitation which fully meets the Standards, we cannot guarantee the building will be listed in the National Register as this decision rests entirely with the Keeper of the National Register. I hope the state historic preservation tax credit can help you realize a successful, high quality rehabilitation project. Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can be of further assistance.
