Show PETER C. AND METTlE MARIE RASMUSSEN HOME 12542 South 900 East This home was built by Alfred Green who may have lived in it for a short while. Peter C. and Mettie Rasmussen purchased it in 1902 from James Paine for $4,000.00. In 1916 Jordan School District bought it for the residence of the Draper Park School principal, Reid Beck, who later became the owner. Today Ralph and Peggy Wadsworth are the owners. Four bedrooms, each with a walk-in closet were upstairs. The banister is the original. Stained glass windows and transoms beautified the home. The dining room was originally the parlor with a marble fireplace. The kitchen was at the west with steps leading from the north and south. The east front entrance led to a hall and sitting room. West of the house were vegetable gardens, fruit trees, and a shanty used for laundry with a cellar underneath for produce storage. Curved flower gardens were on the east and north sides. The property on which this house stands is part of a larger parcel tha was given by the government patent signed by President Ulysses S. Gran to the townsite of Draper. In June 1876 the parcel was purchased by Perry and Agnes Fitzgerald. Parts of this parcel were subsequently sold during 1876 to Elizabeth Draper, John Thomas Wilson, James and Annie S. Jensen, W. J. Green, and Alfred and Minnie Green. The part on which this house now stands was bought in 1902 by James Paine from Walter J. Green. |
