Thereis greatvariety in the colours of the flowers: for fome are wholly of a pure white colour,others of a moft excellent crim fonredcolour, others.againe of a fairered colour, but not fo bright or lively asthe other, fome alfo of a purplifh or violet colour, without any fpot, marke, or lineit them at all. There are againeof all thefe colours, mixed very variably, as whitemixed with fall or great {pottes, ftrakes-or linesof pure or bright red, or darke red, and white with purple {pots andlines ; and of eyther of them whofe flowersarealmof halfe white, and halfe red, or halfe white,and halfe purple. This double yellow Stock gilloflowerisa ftranger in England,as faras I can learne; neyther haue I any further familiaritie with him, then’ by relation from Germany, whereit is affirmed to grow only in fome of their gardens, thatare curious louers of thefe delights, bearing long leaues fomewhat hoary orwhite, (and not greene like vnto the Wallflower, whereuntoelfe it might be thoughtto be referred) like vatothe Stock gilloflowers, asthe ftalkes and branchesalfo are, and bearing faire double flowers, of a faire, but pale yellow colour.
