Exact location of the avalanche, Type of avalanche, Number ( names) of the buried persons, Available witnesses to the accident, Length of trail and its oondition, Summer condition of the avalanche terrain, Snow conditions, Are search crews at work ( who)? Are search crews on the way or notified? Information sources. All persons in the mission area, particularly: Mountain rescue and mountain guard offices, Security services, Mountain guides, hotel keepers, Forest rangers and game wardens, But also all: Natives, Farmers, Forest workers or loggers, Skiers. All this information put together results in a mosaic which is an approximate image of the facts. Witnesses. Under all circumstances all possible witnesses should be secured who might reconstruct the true accident picture. If the witnesses are in physical and mental condition to participate in the mission, they should be taken along at once to the avalanche without being asked a lot of questions first* The description at the avalanche location itself is, of course, the most natural and best.
