Show Struggling to figure out how to find a visual language to discuss identity, I decided I would paint a series about cows as somehow pertaining to otherness, of being one in many, and yet, never united, remaining only one. I was still asking, "What are you?" These allegorical cows never went further than the first painting, but it provided the opportunity of time, and a few spare moments to think. At the same time that I began the one and only cow painting, I continued looking into the first semester's endeavor, and sought information about my father to reframe the question of, "What are you?" to, "Who are you?" Upon finding nothing but my father's sister's death certificate, I got nowhere. 29 |
