Show 20 Chua didn't want to be part of Ahote's craziness. He felt like running to the sky. But there was no place to run. Leaving Ahote, he climbed higher up the cliff. He was ashamed of Ahote and afraid of what stupid thing he would do next. Chua could feel the loneliness and sadness for his father swell within him. "Why did you leave me?" he shouted. Maybe his father would hear him from the next world. Chua clenched his fists and climbed farther up the rocks. "Kwaaaa," called Chosovi as she landed on his shoulder. Near the top he found a quiet comer in one of the caves and curled up. Now the tears of loneliness spilled out of him like water rushing down a swollen river. Sobs shook his tired shoulders. He let them come until they were gone, not knowing how much time harassed. He felt light. He moved to the entrance of the cave and looked out at the blue sky. He filled himself with air. A voice came. It was as if he could picture his father in his head, and hear his words. "I am with you." Peace settled over Chua, warming his belly. "Father!" Chua said, looking around. "Where are you? I can see you inside my head, but I want to look at you with my eyes." "I am in the next world," his father said. "You cannot see me with your outside eyes. Find me with your inner eyes." "Father!" Chua said again. It was comforting to say his name. "Are you a Kachina? Please stay with me and help me. I can't take care of mother alone." |
