H The PreSident stated that a very scrious couaition had existed in the Department of Physical Education for sev~ral years past. Several years ago a di:ferencc arose between hrs. Georgia 3- Johnson, who was then an instructor in the Department, and Miss Blanche P. Henderson, who was the nurse. The matter of adjustment was left in abeyence because Mrs.Johnson took a leave of absence for sduenced study. The hope existed that when Mrs. Johnsmn returned, the matter would settle itself and harmony would pravail. .firs. Johnson went to Columbia and did three years work there, but upon her return, the same lack of harmony prevailed, whinh now involved the head of the department, Dr. H. L. Marshall, Befbre the opening of the school year 1928-27, and upon the advise of the Administrative Council, Mrs. Johnson was requested to file her resignation with the President, to take effect at his pleasure. The ?rssident stated that he had made every possible endeavor to harnonizs things in the department and it seemed to be entirely impossible, uné there seemed to be nothing to do but to accept her resignation which the President 531d on April 2nd. Since then he had received a petition signed by Lola Farrell and about thirty-six other members of the Phi Delta Pi Fraternity, which is a Physical Education organization, asking that-"rs Johnson be retained.
