The provisions of the bequest wer e that the income should be used annually for a prize for the best eSSay discussing the principles of free government. By action of the Board at that time the money was deposited in the Deseret Savings Bank. to $351.82. The interest has accumulated until the fund now amount 5 v THE JOSEPH HYDE MERRILL FUND This is a fund created by a gift from Dr. Joseph F. Ierrill in honor of his son Joseph Hyde lerrill. The gift consists of: 10 Sheree hreferred stock of the Utah Power t Light Company ---------- 81000.00 1 Bond of the Utah Idaho Sugar Company ----- 1000.00 The interest is to be used as a loan fund. Ho loans have as yet been made from this fund. The accumulated balance -is $457.87, and is in the Deseret Savings Bank. In addition to the foregoing Trust Funds there are the following Loan Funds. THE GIRL'S LQAH FUND is a fund established by Kiss Lucy M. Van Cott, Been of Romeo, with donations received by her from various persons. THE U l srnxnenln GRAHT dCHOLAESHIP FUNQ_yas donated by Heber J. Grant in memory of his sife, Lucy Stringhan Grant, the income to be used for the benefit of deserving students. The gift was accepted by the Board of Regents on December 3, 1905, and consisted of 100 shares of the Capital Stock of Heber J. Grant & Company, to which has been added 125 shares of the Capital Stock of the Utah Idaho Sugar Company. T g ICHEL "ATTEHS LOAN FUED was crested by a gift of $1,000.00 on Septenber 16, 1920, by Leon L. eatters, of Ben York City, to establish a loan fund in memory of his father, Mr. hatters has donated $800.00 additional Ichel flatters. since the original gift of $1,000.00.
