Show 4556 Freeman- D 2575 in my book, he asked them to make the trip down the river. As a writer, I had been making some study of the Colorado river development. I was asked originally for the purpose of giving me a fair opportunity to do & magazine article upon it. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q Had it any connection with any of these dam projects? A Yes sir. Q In what way? A There were several dam sites on the river. Surveys were made of each of them, not a through survey that would enable the dam to be built, but surveys which would indicate to a certain extent how favorable this or that side was. That was more or less incidental. Q Those were made during the progress of the trip? BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Suppose you take the first day and tell me the progress of the expedition up stream, what time you left, and how far you got? A My most distinct recollection of the first day was getting the enormous accumulation of luggage into the boats coming down -- of finding the boats could be handled with these large loads. |
