Show CHARLESANDFIDEDABYTHEWAY NOVEMBER 6, 2001 We went and there was a slaughterhouse or something up there further and when the old pigs would come floating down, you'd just move them along. Dead carcasses, but we swam. BEC: Oh! Fru: But we swam and we had fun. And I remember one time we two stupid kids-1 don't know whether it was Dorothy and I or Clara and I, or what-we got on the boat on the nver and, you know, It's a muacle we were found, we got to a shore finally But, I'll never forget that when you think back. I mean, at the time, we weren't that concerned but we were trying to get to shore. Eventually we did get there. But, I think we did a lot of stupid things that we really weren't too smart about. BEC: FRI: BEC: FRI: BEC: Fru: So this was JUSt a rowboat or something you found? Oh, yeah, a rowboat. You got in and said- We got in and JUSt started. Cruising the nver Yeah, hardly knowing what we were doing. Well, we also went to Saltmr a lot. Went on the Bamberger trmn, it was an open train. And we went to Saltmr a lot as a family for picnics and stuff like that. Had fun doing that. And we, at night, neighborhoods would get together Our porch-we had a swing on the porch-and we must have been one of the first one that got a radio. We put the radio out there and people would come over in the evening and sit. A community, you know, people. We just had a good time together Then I remember, because most of these places around here were just fields, there weren't that many homes, and we had bonfires In the fall. 16 |
