Description (1888 I) The twenty-eighth legislature in 1888 passed an act which formed a committee to compile all public acts, laws and resolutions in force in the territory. The compilation was to be systematically arranged, substantially bound, with marginal notes and proper index. The two volumes are arranged in parts, chapters, consecutively numbered paragraphs which are summarized at the beginning of each chapter, and sections. The index to Volume I is substantial and references page numbers. A general index covering both volumes is published in Volume II. A separate session law volume was published for 1888.

Description hand, by virtue of his office, upon orders signed by the auditor the city, by ordinance to annually levy and collect taxes on the laws of the Territory, for the following named purposes, to-wit: nor to exceed five mills on the dollar to open, improve and keep in repair the streets of the city. The city council is further eir. ipowered to divide the city into school districts, provide fo r the election of trustees, appoint a 1 board of school inspectors, , annually assess and collect and exp< and the neces- sary tax ft >r school purposes and for furnishing r the city with water for i rrigating and other purposes, and rej trol the sa: control th* i water courses leading thereto, in the immediate vicinity thi sreof. § 115 7. s 18. The city council shall hai f& the manage- ment and ¦ control of the finances and property of said city. 5 H5 8. s 19. To require and it is hereby made the duty of every m ale resident of the city, over the age t )f eighteen and under the age of fifty years, to labor not 1 =° exceed two his^ption, pay one dollar and fifty cents for the day he shall be so bound t o labor: Provided, it be paid within five days from the time hi 3 shall be notified by the street si upervisor. In default of payment as aforesaid, the same ma1 j be collected .159. s20. The council shall have p before the first Monday of April in each year, but the time may be extended or additions made thereto by order of the city council.
