Description (1888 I) The twenty-eighth legislature in 1888 passed an act which formed a committee to compile all public acts, laws and resolutions in force in the territory. The compilation was to be systematically arranged, substantially bound, with marginal notes and proper index. The two volumes are arranged in parts, chapters, consecutively numbered paragraphs which are summarized at the beginning of each chapter, and sections. The index to Volume I is substantial and references page numbers. A general index covering both volumes is published in Volume II. A separate session law volume was published for 1888.

Description of the United States, all mortgages of the United States, and all rights of the United States in respect to such lands; Provided further, That this act shall apply only to lands situated portion-wit road»i, and in organized counties; Provided further, That at Sfert«f" auj ,a]e of lands under the provisions of this act the United united stales States may become a preferred purchaser, and in such ease prefemS'irai the lands sold shall be restored to the public domain and dis- coiiecnonof Sec. 2. That if any railroad corporation required by to r iiroad lands granted to such company or for its use and benefit by act of Congress shall for thirty days neglect or refuse to pay any such costs after demand for payment thereof by the Secretary of the Interior, he shall notify the Attorney- the same. But when any sum shall be collected°of such rail- - Sec. 3. That this act shall not affect the right of the grantedi but au the r;gntg of tne United States to said lands Sec. 4. That section twenty-one of chapter two hundred a and sixteen, approved July second, eighteen hundred and e ing, selecting and conveying therein required to be paid shall become due and payable at and on the demand therefor made by the Secretary of the Interior, as provided in section two of this act, and nothing in this act shall be construed or taken in any wise to affect or impair the right of Congress at any time hereafter further to alter, amend, or-repeal the said act, as in the opinion of Congress, justice or the public welfare may premises now existing in favor of the United States.
