Description (1888 I) The twenty-eighth legislature in 1888 passed an act which formed a committee to compile all public acts, laws and resolutions in force in the territory. The compilation was to be systematically arranged, substantially bound, with marginal notes and proper index. The two volumes are arranged in parts, chapters, consecutively numbered paragraphs which are summarized at the beginning of each chapter, and sections. The index to Volume I is substantial and references page numbers. A general index covering both volumes is published in Volume II. A separate session law volume was published for 1888.

Description § 38. <w> The sealer of weights and measures shall g. for weighing or measuring, on application by any person who he is authorized to receive; and he shall, in every case where he may employ labor or material in making accurate weights or measures, be entitled to extra compensation therefor, and to retain the article upon which such labor or material has been employed until such compensation be paid. § 3it. s 1. The Territorial sealer of weights and measures i>< is hereby directed to appoint for each organized county in 'ei this Territory a deputy sealer of weights and measures, mi whose term of office shall be four years, and until his successor is appointed and qualified, who shall give a bond, with merit, at the expense of his county, a full set of weights and measures; which shall be according to the seal and standard of the United States, and shall have them gauged and sealed 141.8 3. It is hereby made the duty of the Territorial *, Msmi-anmiull/'all weights and measures used by millers, coal dealers, merchants or others, which shall be gauged and sealed according to said standard, in the county where such persoun are doing business, and said officers are hereby counter or other scales, by which may be weighed not exceeding two hundred pounds, 25c; any such instruments by hundred pounds, 50c.; any such instrument by which may be weighed over six hundred and less than twelve hundred pounds, $1.00; any such instrument by which may be weighed over twelve hundred pounds, tl.oO; for any yard . relates to the compensation of the sealer of weights and
