Description (1888 I) The twenty-eighth legislature in 1888 passed an act which formed a committee to compile all public acts, laws and resolutions in force in the territory. The compilation was to be systematically arranged, substantially bound, with marginal notes and proper index. The two volumes are arranged in parts, chapters, consecutively numbered paragraphs which are summarized at the beginning of each chapter, and sections. The index to Volume I is substantial and references page numbers. A general index covering both volumes is published in Volume II. A separate session law volume was published for 1888.

Description ' shall have all the powers of other justices of the peace, both ritory. They shall perform the same duties, be governed by the same laws, and give the same bonds and securities as other justices of the peace. They shall have exclusive juris- carry such ordinances into execution. Appeals may be had from any decision or judgment of said justices, arising under the ordinances of said city, or the laws of the Territory, to as appeals are or may be taken from other justices of the officer of said corporation; he shall preside in the city council, by four-fifths majority, and it shall be his duty to sign all § 520. s 15. The city council shall Ime power to horses, mules, sheep, swine, goat md ill kind-, ot ijoult^ g, g giving away of spintuou keepers, dram or tippling shop keepers, boarding, victualing places for the selling or giving away of ardent vinous, or fermented liquors § 522. a 17. The city council shall have exclusive power, by ordinance, to regulate the police of the city, to license, tax and regulate auctioneers, merchants and retailers; to license, tax and regulate theatrical and other gaming, bawdy and other disorderly hou e § 523. s 18. This act shall be in force on and after the first day of April, one thousand, eight hundred and sixty-eight, and may be amended or repealed at the pleasure of the Legislative Assembly.
