Description (1888 I) The twenty-eighth legislature in 1888 passed an act which formed a committee to compile all public acts, laws and resolutions in force in the territory. The compilation was to be systematically arranged, substantially bound, with marginal notes and proper index. The two volumes are arranged in parts, chapters, consecutively numbered paragraphs which are summarized at the beginning of each chapter, and sections. The index to Volume I is substantial and references page numbers. A general index covering both volumes is published in Volume II. A separate session law volume was published for 1888.

Description 1. Any city now existing in this Territory How™po™te s corporate limits in the following manner: jJJfj^JjJfJjJd7 writing, signed by not less than three-fourths residing within the Territory desired to be de- city at the next municipal election, and to give notice in the Article 17 of this act; Provided, That no territory shall be detached, nor shall any election be ordered when such territory does not lie upon the border of said city limits, or is laid out § 1807. s 2. Such notice shall distinctly state the N proposition to be submitted, and shall designate specifically £" the boundaries of the territory proposed to be detached, and placing upon ballots the words "for detachment" or "against detachment." If a majority of all the votes cast in said city shall be "for detachment" the city council shall cause to be election, showing the number of votes cast for and against § 1808. s 3. It shall be the duty of the mayor of said JJ ¦city to have recorded in the county records, an accurate map^ of the territory so detached, and the city as restricted in its" limits, and he shall also make publication at least four times of the result of such election, and designate the territory so detached.
