Description (1888 I) The twenty-eighth legislature in 1888 passed an act which formed a committee to compile all public acts, laws and resolutions in force in the territory. The compilation was to be systematically arranged, substantially bound, with marginal notes and proper index. The two volumes are arranged in parts, chapters, consecutively numbered paragraphs which are summarized at the beginning of each chapter, and sections. The index to Volume I is substantial and references page numbers. A general index covering both volumes is published in Volume II. A separate session law volume was published for 1888.

Description 5 940. s 2. The city council shall have power to direct within the city, and regulate the rate of speed at which the regulate and control the location of gaa works, telegraph and § 941. s 3. The city council shall have power and is hereby authorized by ordinance, and enforcenjent thereof within the corporate limits, to regulate, restrain or prohibit the running at large of horses, mules, cattle, sheep, swine, goats and all kinds of poultry; and when so running at large, to distrain, impound, and sell the same for the penalty and costs incurred therein, and impose penalties by fine upon the owners of the same, for violation of such ordinance; Provided, That the proceeds of such sale shall be paid into the treasury of the county, wherein such city is located, less tlie amount of selling the same, and such proceeds shall be used as provided in section 408 of the Compiled Laws of Utah. § 942. s 4.
