These buildings should 1 be erected immediately. EDUCATION. 4 For the last two ywm quite a number of children have heensent to the Ramona school st SantaF6. and I am d w e d to say that these children have made good -p ro-ar ass st that institution. I would reearnmend the boilding of a large hoarding-school for these Indhns, as they wonld send their children to a school st home more willingly than ahmad. The two ladias of the Woman's Home Mibission Society lahoboring among these Indians are doing a great desl of good and fast gajning the eonlidenee of the Indians. I should recommend they he speoislly favored by the Department in assisting them in their laudshle and valn-able work. R~PLOYER. REPORT OF CHEYENNE RIVER AGENCY. CHEYENNER IVEB AQENCYD, AK., A d 26, 1889. SIB: I have the honor to submit the following report of this agency for the past year. The agency proper is located on the waat hank of the Mhanri River, about 35 milw north of Pierre and 10 miles south of the Cheyenne River. Mail service is from Pierre, air times s week. Fort Sully, 7 milw distant on the opposite side of the *ver, is our .telqpph station, and Fort Bennett is our past-office. The Indians here oomprine s, portion of the Blackfoot, the Suds Am, T W O K ~ ~ a~nId~ , Minueconjou Sioux, and they are l o ~ t e din the bottoms on the west hnnk of the Mis-souri River for over 120 miles of ita course, dong both hanks of the Moresn River for more than 80 mil-, along both banks of the Cheyenne Riser for nearly 100 miles, and along Bad River far more than 50 milw. The Indian camps are, as a role, widely asp-arated, and in some cases are quite large; hut along the Missouri, Morean, and Bad Rivers ' the Indian. are mastly su5ciently separsted to enable them to take their allotmanta. But upon the Cheyenne River the Indians are yet moreinclined to live in villages with their houses hnddled closely together; but even with these we me making good pmg. rees. I do not think there are more than twenty-five families upon this agency who hdve not built log-haases, and follynine-tentha of all thee Indians have stables also.
