Show New freshmen were introduced to the contrast in University life as they consulted their counselors about their class schedules, sloshed in white wash and swished a new coat of whiteness onto the "U" and attended the Welcome Wreek Dance where they enjoyed surfing and making new acquaintances. "Focus on U" gave entering freshmen a week of introduction to university life. They received counselling from the deans of colleges and enjoyed a picnic lunch hosted by the Spurs and Intercollegiate Knights. Each person was helped in planning a tentative schedule before he registered. Dr. Walter Hahn of the Scholastic Standards committee presented an illustrated lecture explaining the scholastic policies of the University. Sweatshirts and Ievis were standard dress as freshmen participated in the traditional whitewashing of the "U" and the melon bust. The Welcome Week dance and presentation of freshmen royalty was the climax of a successful week. ISO Planning Welcome Week were ( row l) Lindy Olson. Ray Child, chairman, (row 2) Cathy Cannon.
