Show Although C oach Nagel felt "the Cougars could prove to be a sleeping giant, the mighty Utes were determined to never let the giant wake as they went on to defeat the BYU team 15-6. From the beginning it was a Ute game and only a late Cougar attempt saved the cats from a shutout. With two victories under their belts the Utes were resolved to continue the winning streak and did, by defeating the Colorado State Rams 48 to 14. The Col orado State-Utah record now stands with 51 Ute victories and only 10 losses. The Wyoming Cowboys were the next Redskin foe and WAC contender. The Utes came into the homecoming game leading the conference, but after a close and disheartening defeat, the Wy oming team took the W^AC lead.
