Show The Homecoming parade picked up the theme and spiced it with the usual color, noise, and marching feet. In addition to floats depicting rockets with shooting smoke, were others that jibed at the Wyoming Cowboys. The Ute-Tahnas and high school pep clubs showed off their new uniforms to the crowds and high school bands took the sounds of blaring trumpets and beating drums with them down Main Street across Second South and stopped at Social Hall Avenue. "Anti-cowboy" feeling was stirred up at a Pep Rally and bonfire sponsored by RHA. A dummy clad in a cowboy shirt and hat was "cremated" in the huge fire. Following the rally, music and dancing filled W^olcott Street for the annual Pi Beta Phi-Sigma Nu Street Dance. The cheerleaders board the first place float, built by Wasatch Hall, for a half time ride around the football field. The Sigma Nu's revolving ball coped top honors in the fraternity house decoration competition. The women's winner was Kappa Kappa Gamma. A recording of a low voice slowly reading beat poetry lent atmosphere to the Kappa Sigma house decoration. |
