Show 399 There had been a pile line survey made for the purpose of shipping cut oil in commercial quantities. This pipe line was surveyed from what is known as the Big Bend northward toward Thompson. In the wells west of the Green River, showings of oil were found but on oil in commercial quantities, and all drilling operations in the vicinity have been discontinued, There are still great hopes that oil in commercial quantities will be encountered in the geological structures of this field. The survey made by him took in the territory west of the last known survey corner in the Moab Valley, as the location of the junction of the Green and Colorado rivers was wanted with respect to surveyed lands. Geological conditions favorable, in his opinion, for oil production were encountered during the survey. He has made no surveys on the San Juan River. The survey extended south along the Colorado River only two and one- half miles toward Cataract Canyon or to the head of Cataract Canyon. Other than heretofore testified, he has not made any surveys on either side of the Green River for the purpose of locating oil structures. RE- DIRECT EXAMINATION ( R. Vol. 6 - 1026- 1030) A barrel of oil, in his opinion, would weigh between three and four hundred pounds and in 1929 its value would depend upon the field |
