Show 410 the boat, wading the stream. At the Shafer No. 1 well they met the Moab Garage boat and the row boat was loaded on and carried up to Moab. The trip consumed about five or six hours, it being one o'clock when they left the well and six or seven o'clock when they reached Moab. Just as the boat was in sight of Moab it struck a sand bar and was stuck there for a short time. The engine was reversed, the boat backed up, and then went ahead. On the trip through Westwater Canyon to Moab, he and his brother had two boats; at Moab one of them was sold to a person who, he thinks, took it to Lockhart, the other being shipped to Greenriver City, Utah. " Q. That is, did he haul it overland or on the water? A. With a truck." ( R. 1053) The last trip he made up the Colorado River from the mouth of the Green River to Moab was in December 1927. He was unable to take the boats all the way up to Moab on that trip so left them at camp Lockhart.
