Show simon frank 6-29 p.25 we all--close-- they come to our house in the summer time almost daily, the whole family here. All of her grandchildren and children, everybody else. And its sort of a meeting placein the summertime because of the pool. I don't think it's because they're~ crazy about us. They like the pool. s You were the youngest of your brothers a~et you baee became the S The head of the store. L Coul~ou tell me a little bit about how that happened. You~$ had been going to college and they had been involve. S I honestly don't know. I assume it's because I had more ability ••. and it .. just came about. I dont think that's too smug to say. I had more ability, no question about it. And the beauty of that is we must have handled it very well, because there is very little resentment. Some jealousy in all families, you know, and why they have jealousy/because one may have had a little more than the others1 but no one was suffering. I mean, I could se<if somebody didn't have to~<IAJ,.._ ~4 very ~ S8 somebody had a lot that they would resent it. But thank goodness, through me too, they all v~w•re quite affluent. I may have had more,but that's a horrible disease, jealousy. But it rears its ugly head in many places, many ~ times, many goodtfamilies 1ha¥equally as good as ours. You see it so much• _ _gut as I say, while we were together, there was very little resentment.lnd my father made no bones about his favorites and grandchildren and everything else. And themly other person I know-- this is a very prominent family in the United States--the Lazarus family from--started in 'olumbus and theycontrol -~, store the federated dept. stores. that s the greatest dept/ cna1n in america. And Fred Lazarus; the senior , got to have all four, very able sons, all of them very able, and he got them together and chose Ralph who was the youngest and told them all that Ralph was going to succeed me as the head of the instittution and it workedout beautifully. That's the only other family. Oh, no, inthe &ee Rosenblatt family/~J;e is the youngest of three sons. And he's by far--and they were also very able, be~~ oldest boy~ But Joe just had that additionaf4bility and put it all together and made it a success.oi ~- And very succesful. ~minently successful.
