Show Binge Drinking (Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey) Binge drinking is defined as the consumption of five or more alcoholic drinks on one or more occasions during the previous month. The U.S. median has gradually declined since 1986. Utah's percentage of those reporting binge drinking is lower than the U.S. Table 76. Binge Drinking median; however, there have been fluctuations but no noticeable decrease in Utah's rate. Unlike previous years, in 1995 in Utah the greatest concentration of binge drinkers were men between the ages of 35 and 44 constituting 23.3%.
