Show Young People's Theatre Robert Louis Stevenson's beloved children's classic, "Treasure Island," commenced the Young People's Theatre season under the auspices of the University Theatre and in cooperation with the Salt Lake City Schools. A tradition with American youth, "Treasure Island" was imaginatively interpreted by Director Vern Adix, and was enthusiastically presented by a capable cast. The Christmas story everyone knows, Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" was a delightful introduction to the Christmas Holidays. With the problem of winning the audience over already virtually accomplished, the play was thoroughly enjoyed by cast and audience alike. jne Smjiem Jr flew (Jlet lies "The Emperor's New Clothes," a delightful fairy-tale, delightfully told, was written by Charlotte Corpenning and directed by Vern Adix. The play was presented to the Granite School District in addition to the regular presentations at Kingsbury Hall, and performances given at West and South High Schools in common with the other plays of the series. Petefile Written and directed by Wanda Clayton Thomas, Associate University Theatre Director, "Peterle" featured not only a good script, but included a youth choir, and original music by Dr. William Fowler as well. Quaint settings and costumes - almost a must for a children's production - embellished this final play of the season. 101 |
