Show Naiads The newest military sponsor group on campus is the Naiads. The name, derived from Greek mythology, means nymphs from rivers or oceans who beautify the water. This feminine group is mainly a social auxiliary organization, supporting and sponsoring the NROTC Navy and Marine unit at the University. This group has ushered at Navy ROTC, University, and civic functions. They have had social exchanges with the other military sponsor groups and the Navy midshipmen. The Naiads receive, in addition to their regular clasroom work, general military instruction so that they can better understand the United States military and defense programs.
