Show PublicationsThe Utah ChronicleI read my "Utah Chronicle" each week with addedzest, The "Safety Valve," the football scores, the scandaland the rest; The leader on the Regents, and that section mostentrancing, Devoted to Aunt Lucy's views on anti-linkeddancing.I always like the "Criticism" a-rippin' up the "Pen," (By some who couldn't write it). How not to chewSen Sen, I make a point on principle of running through theads; I dote upon the style of dress-June fillies' latestfads.I gather from the social stick that Mignonette Du Sash,Is undergoing treatment at Bad Acks for nettle-rash."Sport Gossip" always tells me that the coach has got the dope-With sufficient huskies handy, he'll make good the Crimson hope.In short, I like the whole of it,-read every line ofjunk,But most of all I revel in the clever, snappy "Punk;" I read each week's installment a second, third, orfourth or Even fifth time through (you see the fact is. I'm itsauthor). Den Yen Sen_The University PenThe University Pen-a monthly publication contributed to by the literary lions of the University-is designed for the purpose of encouraging the student to undertake the ascent of Parnassus, and is devoted to undergraduate essays, poetry, and short stories after the fashion of the Forum and the Atlantic Monthly. It is yet youthful in its growth and consequently less famed than those mentioned. The motive of the Pen is not to make professional writers but merely to foster the literary germ. This germ has often, in the past, reached the extent of a disease, giving rise to a violent epidemic. Care should be exercised, therefore, to avoid continuous indulgence in the precarious pastime. The magazine is very popular among engineering students who are often seen gloating over its contents. Members of the faculty are frequent contributors, which goes to show that recognition is desired through its columns. There is no money in the job of editing the magazine, consequently its editors are usually coeds. The Little Trouble BrewerReservation Order No.*•.: ACCEPTANCETo FRANK PRESBREY COMPANY 456 Fourth Avenue, New YorkWe accq>t Reservation Order dated.'_'_..'......¦:."..:.......!..'..;'................'._............ 191for advertising of ____.......TownState.-.............. .Publisher.TO PUBLISHER-Please tear off, nil out and return to us.The UtonianThe Utonian is a quarto-bound volume in various shades of plush (morroco if desired) closely related, in style and purpose to the indispensible family-album; containing among other less important features, a year's record of the varied achievements of our college celebrities. These records are usually highly interesting to read for a moment's pleasureable relaxation and a delight to the victim himself, serving at the same time as a sort of social diploma or degree. The year book is a medium through which ambitious undergraduates and social macaronies vie among themselves for chief notoriety, the latter to be decided by the number of times the picture of each appears within its pages.Page two hundred fifty-five |
