However, tryouts were held and the winners chosen. For the next four months no sound was heard from them. Then on the night of March fifth, over two thousand people had assembled in the Tabernacle to listen to the California-Utah Glee Club Concert. Eventually the Stringed Quartette took its place. As they blithely tripped through the light, fantastic, harmonies of Pochons' "The Mill", the audience was held completely spell-bound. When the last note was touched, a vociferous and prolonged applause literally shook the building. Recent concerts have been given at Ogden, Logan, Provo, Grantsville, and Tooele. At every place critics have styled them as truly artistic and professional. Too much praise cannot be given to this quartette and especially to Ellen Nielson, director, for the commendable work they have accomplished. They have animated real Utah spirit and put it over for A GREATER UNIVERSITY. *'¦*-.: .- ¦»--< HP W±^%\ a^^^iiis^iisi^LJ Rutledge, Whitehead, Nielson, McKellar, Davis mwBMi reieie ei:eieic:ie:ie9vxuai#iei:«ieieiei«iei«i«ieieie.ie [154] hmh |
