Show All eyes forward as man races a baseball and a glove. Utah's outstanding baseball squad, headed by Coach Pete Carlston. 1, eitr A skurmish on all fours to belt the bag and hope for the best. Coach Theron Parmelee brought back some of the outstanding men from last year's team and developed another strong team for the U this past Spring. Number one netter from last year, Jerry Glade, came back and held the same spot handily again. Other lettermen Eddie Anderson and Al Cornwall, and a sophomore standout Bernard Teitlebaum made the nucleous of the team. Dave Reeve, Chuck Wyatt, Gus Teseros, a Frosh; Bob Heath, and Jack Hansen made up the rest of the team. Parm worked hard with the netters and turned out a good team for Utah. Although the competition was rough the Utes made a good showing. Baseball made the headlines several times this spring around Uteville with the team playing the games at Derks Field. Pitching chores were handled by Basil Williams, Niel Astle, Ray Andrus, and Vic Stuckenschneider. The rest of the team was made up of Bruce Goodrich, Doug Palley, Dave Hamilton and Chuck Smith in the outer gardens; with the infield covered by Wayne Ray, Harvey Francis, Monty Howard, and Don Geis. Jay Nichols and Bill Groomer shared receiving honors for the Redskin nine. Baseball is ever growing in Uteville and this team has helped it thrive. 363 |
