Wedemeyer was featured speaker at the Founders' Day assembly. a day of many events... Celebrating the founding of the University of Utah, we carried on numerous festivities. As guest speaker for the Founders' Day assembly, General Wedemeyer, presented to us his views of education and national and world problems. Stephanie Rich, Founders' Day queen, and her attendants, Rosanne Gline and Gerrie Shilling, were introduced to the student body by Ray Milland. Several good mixers started the Western mat dance off with great success. Our troubles were forgotten as we twirled to the music, tagged, and traded partners. To climax the Founders' Day celebration, an alumni banquet was held. Acting as master of ceremonies of the program was Richard L. Evans, president of the alumni. This celebration added another year to the U. of U. history. Fred Pingree, Founders' Day chairman. 163 |
