Show of Dean of Men, John L. Ballif. Myrtle Austin, Dean of Women. itedote Running a university required the work of many men and women besides professors and instructors. Supervisors and directors of campus services such as the library, Kingsbury Hall and Carlson Hall were also essential. Of course, some of the faculty members taught classes-English, speech, home economics, and library science. Dean of Women Myrtle Austin taught basic communication classes, along with finding housing for out-of-town students, and advising girls on all types of problems. Dean John L. Ballif found time to teach French classes -along with checking on the boys at Central Hall and the Athletic Dorm. The busy Dean of Men saw the teams off and welcomed them home from every trip, and was in attendance at plays and games to take charge of the ushering. These were the people behind the scenes-people that most students weren't aware of. They held the unglamorous but necessary executive positions on the campus. |
