Show It is a noted fact, throughout this section, that the Utes have the b^ st work horses and the general purpose animals of any class of farmers found in the V/ est* Having no tribal land upon this reservation there is no outside stock grazing here and there is no tribal herd. A new dairy will shortly be purchased for their school. My plan is to furnish every Indian, who will take the proper care and attention, a milch cow or two for his family. V/ e have one full- flooded Southern ute, who is running a fair-sized dairy at Pagosa Junction and shipping cream. He is also banking his receipts and is accumulating a nice bank account as a result. This dairv business, in general. however, would not be advisable. But I believe, however, that one or two good milch cows should be furnished to many more families than now possess them. Beyond some bead work the Southern Utes have no native arts. Many of the women have purchased sswing machines during the past two years for their homes and are making very good use of them. Several others are anxious to purchare machines as soon as their funds will permit. 1 am taking up with the bounty agriculturists at the present ti e the matter of forming a boys1 and girl61 pig club among the Southern Utes.
