In this way we have a comparison of two methods and have been able to determine whether the seed was fit. to so; v or not. une feature about the purchasing of seeds that is to a disp advantage, is the fact that where seeds are furnished locally, as has been the practice in the past two years, much of the seed is not delivered until the mdians are ready to sow, thus preventing proper testing. In the future I will so arrange the purchase otf seeds that i t will be made at a date sufficientljr early, so that a l l seeds may be tested. There have been several Indians during the past year, who have never made any effort towards self- support, been brought to see the necessity of some effort along t h i s l i n e , and with two or three exceptions I feel certain that nearly e very able Indian of this jurisdiction i s making some effort toward self- support. Some of course, are accomplishing good r e s u l t s , while others are s t i ll to be classed as weak beginners, but I feel that the proper encouragement and constant oversight that nearly every J- ndian can be brought to make an earnest effort toward the support of himself and hif family.
