Aperture ronnd-oval; shell tbm, fragile. The sprcimeH~ arc all imperfect, am.l more. or les~ cru~h.ctl ; . tl~e. fi~ure,, however, are good repre,cntatiO))S of the fos. tl. It IS rrntldy dtstmgmsheu by its finn hues of growth resembling a species of Ilelix, and by the angu1ar character of the upper part of each whorl. DescriJJLion.-Eiongated, :suhnlate; whorls, about ten, marked w1th stro11g ridges, which are again crossed by finer lines in the direction of the \Vhorl . The stro11g vertical ridcres arc often obsolete on the la t whorl, as ill fig. G u, a11d the !·.piral lines much stronger. . This shell is very strongly 1uarkeu, a11d its external aspect is ufiicte~lt t? distinguish it: it is easily fractured, a11d, from the nature or the ru~tnx, It ha. been impot3sible to outain a spccime11 exhibiLing the mouth perfectly. Locality, same as the preceding. 18. CERrrnruM FREMONTJ. Pl. 3, figs. 7, 7 a. (No. 28 of collection.) Description.-Shell terete, ovate, acute; whorls, about nine, convex; summit of each one coronated; surface marked by regular rows of pustu~ lar knobs, often with smaller ones between· beak small, sharp; mouth nGt visible in the specimen. ' This is a very beautifully marked shell, with the summit of each whorl crowned with a row of short spines. Locality, same as the preceding. 19 .. NATICA (?) occrnBN1'ALrs. PL 3, figs. s, 8 a.
